Swords into Plows
" They shall beat their swords into plowshares." Isaiah 2:4

Looking back to my Dec. 3rd meditation after reading Isaiah 2:4, I see again how people treat others with words and deeds being their swords. People being quick to anger because they did not get a certain gift, either because it was out of stock or because the sale ended and they could not get it at the cost they were anticipating. They take that sharpened swords and attack the person who happens to be working at the time. It becomes that employees fault that they could not get what they came for.
It's at this time that we need to stop and think about our actions and words that we use as swords. Let's be a blacksmith and beat those swords and turn them into plows. Use those plows to work the land and plant the seeds of love and kindness. Take a deep breath and say, even if to yourself, "Peace be with you." Accept the circumstance and realize that it isn't anyone's fault and show your brothers and sisters the kindness that you would want shown to yourself.
Take some time before Christmas and look back at your words and deeds. This is a great time to take advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Let God forgive, heal, and strengthen your heart before Christmas. He truly is the Divine Blacksmith.

Prayer
Grant, O Lord, that my heart may neither desire nor seek anything but what is necessary for the fulfillment of Thy holy Will. May health or sickness, riches or poverty, honors or contempt, humiliations, leave my soul in that state of perfect detachment to which I desire to attain for Thy greater honor and Thy greater glory. Amen.
